Decided to take a bike ride on a beautiful September day today. I chose Burketown as my starting point. Burketown is about midway between Weyers Cave and Mount Crawford on Route 11.

Burketown Road is the name of the country road I chose, but what I didn't know was the road immediately runs west over a ridge. 3 consecutive hills, one long and relatively shallow, the second long and quite steep, the third short but steep. So after only 2.2 miles I was whipped. I had ridden about 45 minutes at that point. Turned around and was back to the truck in about 10 minutes. Thought someone might enjoy the pics.
Just off Route 11 in Burktown is a wonderful, beautiful horse farm. I thought, wow, this must have cost someone a lot. A sign. What does it say? Bridgwater College Equestrian Center. Oh, well. That explains a lot.
