A couple of corrections. Mari is walking all the time now. You can see a great video of it on Jill's blog. And a really cute video of Mari feeding Ollie Dog.
The second correction is about the LOTR in HD format. It is NOT out yet, and no release date has been announced. Some really great stills have been released, and the buzz on the Internet is that the HD version will contain 36 hours of NEW material as in behind the scenes videos, out-takes and funnies. I am sure a lot of that would be interesting, but I'd really like an HD release of just the films in a continuous format.
Additional information is my mgr did get her job in another store so the electrical mgr position should be posted soon. I believe I am ready. I have at least been exposed to all of the paper work required of a department manager. Some of it isn't completely clear to me, but it will come along. I have already made some changes in the department that needed done regardless of who becomes manager. Or irregardless as my dad always said. Irregardless?? Is that akin to unloosening a screw?? My b-i-l Greg used to say that. I crack up every time I hear his voice in my memory as we worked on various projects together. Yes, like the moped. One day I will be vindicated for all of the grief I have taken over that stupid moped! You'd think I shut down an entire fleet of 747s or something. And if my wife ever starts on a windshield wiper something or other tell her you just 'hain't got time to hear it.
I'll be 59 in 27 hours and 27 minutes. Amazing how that worked out like that. 2:42 am, July the first, 1949, I was born in Wichita Kansas. And have wondered for 40 years why we ever left. I know the reasons my parents CLAIMED for leaving. But I wonder what was REALLY at the heart of the decision. I think it was simple homesickness. Nothing more.
Well, I can relate to homesickness. I've experienced it at various times and in varying degrees over the years. Sometimes it hurts really bad, mostly very little. I love the mountains here in the Shenandoah Valley. But when I see pictures of Kansas and Oklahoma I sometimes ache inside.

June closing quickly
I realize it has been a while since I have posted. I was waiting on some things to fall into place so I could report them, but they have not happened. I had interviewed for a manager's position at the Harrisonburg, VA Lowe's but was not selected. I then put in for a transfer to the store but now, nearly 4 weeks later I have still not heard anything about that. So I am sitting tight on where I am, and OK with it. I was wanting to move to Harrisonburg for work because it would save me about 220 gallons of gas a year. You can do the math.
But, I got into hypermiling and have stretched my mileage by 24 percent. It sometimes is a little scary driving along the Interstate at 55, but as far as I can find there is no posted minimum speed limit. I am sure there is one, and there certainly is a sane minimum. One of my co-workers is a Virginia State Trooper and tells me he believes 55 is dangerous. I think the entire country is not serious about the gas prices or they would slow down as well.
There is a rumor, and at this time it is only a rumor, that the manager position in my department may become available soon. It depends on whether or not my manager gets a job she wants at another store. I have let it be known for well over a year I have wanted the job if it ever opens up. I will have to, of course, interview for it just as anyone would. So, I'll post that if and when it happens.
Georgiann's sister Phyllis and Phyllis' daughter Juli and grandson Brendon were with us a couple of weekends ago. We had a nice time but visits are always too short with them. Two of my sisters, Yvonne and Ruth Ann are coming to by to see me on their way to a church meeting in northern Virginia.
I turn 59 in body next Tuesday. Not sure what I am mentally, but it sure isn't 59. Some days I feel 99 in body, but 29 in spirit. And other days I feel 59 in both. My doctor told me today that all of my blood levels and BP is back in normal range. I was happy about that, especially the blood sugar levels and BP. We have battled BP problems for about 22 years now. The sugar levels just surfaced a month or so ago but he believes it was due in large part to medication I was on for the BP. My weight has dropped 5 pounds in a couple of weeks which is like a 9 pound loss since I had been gaining about 4 every time I went to visit him.
The weight loss which needs to continue will also help alleviate pressure on a torn meniscus in my left knee. I finally found some shoes that seem to cushion me on the concrete floors at work. So it has actually been getting a little better already.
The children got me a pretty good size flat screen HDTV for my birthday. I hadn't planned on buying one for myself. But it sure has a nice picture. I may have to re-purchase some of my DVDs in HD format (reading between the lines that means the entire set of Lord of the Rings). It is now available and the pros say it is worth it even if you already own the entire box set. I'll have to save my pennies. An epic film worth watching ad infinitum.
The girls are growing and on the verge of walking. I'd say Madi will be walking on her own by the time we see her again which is July 6th. Chad and Lesa are going to Bemus Point, NY tomorrow for Lesa's sister Nikki's wedding. Best wishes Nikki! If I'd been younger and not married, oh well, you know. Mari is just about walking, too.
